Local Author Book Signing at the Akron Public Library

indexFirst-time author Donita Pressel-Merley will sign copies of her book “The Geesops” on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Akron Public Library from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. “The Geesops” is a beautifully illustrated book specially written for children.  Using a rhyming narrative, it follows the interactions of whimsical creatures that live deep in the forest.  Through these quirky characters, readers will learn about kindness, caring, obedience, and not being prejudice.

Federal Tax Form Information

Federal Tax Forms Notice

The Internal Revenue Service has recently announced that it will no longer make available to the library the many forms that it had in the past. In an email, the IRS said it is discontinuing the Tax Forms Outlet Program because “IRS appropriations were significantly cut in the 2015 Omnibus Appropriations bill recently passed by Congress”.

The ONLY forms that the IRS will offer for distribution at the Akron Public Library are
 Forms 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ

NOTE: WE HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED FORMS 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ.

Instructions for the 1040s, and all other Forms and Instructions, will ONLY BE AVAILABLE THROUGH:

Join us for Make-It, Take-It Craft Time each Thursday from 4-7 p.m. (This is a come and go project for children ages 5 and up.)

Writing Creative Nonfiction Series to Begin

The Akron Area Arts League writer’s group will beginning studying The Great Courses DVD series: Writing Creative Nonfiction on Thursday, February 12th from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Akron Public Library. The DVD will last 30 minutes and the topic is Finding Your Story. Discussion will follow the DVD. Participants’ writings with the prompt: “Beginnings” will be shared. Write about new beginnings or hard beginnings or perhaps an inspirational essay about beginnings– you decide. New people who are interested in learning how to write better are encouraged to join the group. Refreshments will be served. Lego Club

The next Lego Club is scheduled for Monday, January 26th from 4:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. at the Akron Public Library! Ages 3 through teen are welcome to attend!(Children ages 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult.)

We are currently accepting donations of good used or new Lego brand specialty kits, figurines, and accessories. (Lego brand only please.) Please stop by the library or call us 574-893-4113 if you have items to donate. Thank you!
